Pupil Premium
The Pupil premium is additional funding received by schools and is allocated based on the number of pupils who are eligible for free school meals now or have been at any point in the last six years (whether they take them or not). This amounts to £1,320 per pupil in primary schools.
Funding also covers children in care aged 4-15 who have been looked after continuously for more than 6 months or who have left local authority care because of one of the following:
- adoption;
- special guardianship order;
- child arrangements order; or
- residence order.
A service premium has also been introduced for children whose parents are serving in the armed forces.
The money is for schools to spend however they choose in order that it improves the educational attainment of these pupils. Any pupil premium money received by the school is used to meet the specific needs of the individuals for whom it is intended.
Please look at our Pupil Premium Strategy for more detail on how we spent our allocation last year and our plans for this year.
