Finance Officer/Bursar needed – start January 2020

We are looking for an experienced Bursar to join our lovely rural school and help us manage our finances as we expand to become a full primary school.

Do you have experience of managing school finances, or looking after budgets and reporting in another sector?  Would you like a part time role that will grow with the School in future years?

We are looking for a team player, with the energy, enthusiasm and dedication to help us develop an outstanding and well-managed School.

Salary – Bucks pay scale 3 to 4, dependent on qualifications and experience. 8-12 hours a week.

Start date: from 1st January 2020. Opportunity to start earlier and work with our current bursar on a smooth handover in December.

About us

We are a small school in rural North Buckinghamshire, providing an immersive and exciting education to children from the local community and as far afield as Aylesbury and Milton Keynes.

We have been an infant school with a pre-school, taking children from their second birthday. We are now part-way through our expansion to become a full primary, taking children up to Year 6. We currently take children from 2 year olds up to Year 5. You will join the school at an exciting time in our journey and will be able to contribute your ideas and energy to help us succeed in our vision to become an outstanding rural primary school.

East Claydon C of E School offers staff:

  • A friendly rural atmosphere and great space to work
  • An immersive and exciting curriculum
  • Fantastic outside learning areas
  • Collaborative team
  • Engaged children and supportive families
  • Close partnerships with the local community

About you

You will be committed to ensuring our school is financially well managed as we transition from an infant to full primary school.  In addition you will:

  • Have strong mathematical and spreadsheet skills and the ability to apply these within a financial context;
  • Have previous experience of managing budgets and reporting to a range of stakeholders;
  • Have previous experience of advising on the setting of budgets and reviewing amounts apportioned to different cost centres;
  • Understand how to manage personnel systems;
  • Welcome change and thrive on new opportunities; and
  • Enjoy working in a team of dedicated professionals.

About the role

You will be managing the financial and personnel systems for our School and Pre-School through a period of growth and change.

We will provide you with the ongoing professional development you need to become an outstanding financial controller and develop the skills that are of interest to you and needed by the School. As we grow, there will be opportunities to take on additional management responsibilities and you will be able to help shape our School’s ethos and direction.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious candidate who is interested in developing their career within a small school environment.
